A Look Behind: Inspired by Warm(er) Weather
The overall collection of images that I selected definitely speaks to my current feeling of getting ready for warmer weather — and what that warmer weather holds for me and my family.
Seeking a sense of renewal and vitality: The vibrancy and energy of these images reflects my personal desire for a fresh start and desire for the shift of energy that the seasonal change brings.
Longing for freedom and escape that oftentimes is associated with warmer weather - ie "summer vacation": Seascapes, the vast dropoff of a cliff and open landscapes tap into a yearning for a break from the routine of wearing transitional or all weather clothing and covering my feet for a sense of liberation.
Craving celebration: Fireworks and bright colors that indicate a need for more lightheartedness and celebratory moments in my life (or how much our bodies need this Vitamin D).
How has being a mom reshaped the way you tap into your creativity?
Motherhood has definitely reshaped how I think about community, which is a huge part of how I tap into my creativity. My community is a big form of inspiration and I use that for my creative outlets.
I've seen a huge (positive) shift in empathy and human understanding as a result of motherhood. It has enhanced my ability to process and understand nuanced human emotions, motivations, and perspectives — which has enriched my creative outputs.
What unexpected moments or connections fuel your inspiration when you need it most?
Unexpectedly, I would say how much the notion of "routine and prioritization" can inspire me. Things that I've often thought were too mundane to even deal with (either in my work or in my personal life) are now something that I find interesting based on how I break it down and try to improve over time, making it part of my routine to the point where it is automatic and I can focus on the next "challenge."
