Present, Now

A Look Behind: Present, Now
We spend so much time talking about the future, planning for what comes next that I want to lean into the present, the now. I try to soak up these ordinary (and yet extraordinary) moments with my children: the cuddles and laughter, the tears and frustration. I was drawn to images that felt like those moments - the moments of tenderness, of joy. The moments where you just want to create and click the shutter. Those are the moments that called to me.
How has motherhood shaped (or reshaped) the way you tap into your creativity?
My kids are my muse. They have enriched my life in so many ways and I want to capture our world together. I feel things more deeply, I experience them from a new perspective and I try to see the world from their eyes.
And while my creative time has shifted -- at the end of a long day of work and kids and dinner and bedtime, my creative juices don't flow in the same rhythm. Now, it is in the morning -- often with a large cup of coffee, when I am able to tap into my creativity and let ideas brew.
What unexpected moments or connections fuel your inspiration when you need it most?
Light. Light. Light. I've always had a love affair with LIGHT but now when light touches anything from a blade of grass or a skinned knee, I find myself feeling inspired by what could be seen as the mundane.
