These Photos Celebrate Pantone's 2023 Color of the Year: Viva Magenta!

Pantone’s 2023 color of the year is “an unconventional shade for an unconventional time: a new vision.”
Every year, Pantone selects a color of the year based on data and trends in technology, design, pop culture, and the world at large. This year's color, Viva Magenta, a few degrees over on the color wheel from last year's blueish violet "Very Peri" is a burst of energy – an optimistic glimpse into what lies ahead.
So what exactly is Viva Magenta?
Pantone describes it as a symbol of a new world - one that thrives on experimentation and living in the balance of a real and virtual world. The color, with its deep reds and hints of purple “emboldens our strength and spirit to explore groundbreaking possibilities,” says Pantone’s VP, Laurie Pressman, and we couldn’t agree more.

To celebrate Pantone's release, we curated some of our favorite Viva Magenta-hued images from The Luupe's community of photographers. Sometimes it takes over every inch of the image. At other times, it's a subtle splash of color – lipstick on an otherwise monochrome portrait, or a pool of crimson on a head of green cabbage.
