Here at The Luupe, we firmly believe in supporting and amplifying women* run businesses and creative projects this holiday season. This is especially important this year, as freelance photographers face ongoing financial struggles related to the pandemic.
Below are some of our favorite print, photobook, and zine sales from women* photographers, non-profits, collectives, and independently-run print shops at incredibly affordable prices. Check 'em out and show your support!
Ends Tuesday, 12/15!Diversify Photo's Holiday Print Sale featuring BIPOC and non-western photographers around the world includes quite a few of our favorite Luupe photographers. All prints are $65. Proceeds support the artists and Diversify’s programming. If you miss the sale, make sure to check out DiversifyPhoto's Instagram where they're highlighting mages from the sale.
Evi Abeler's Food Print Shop, which includes food images that look like the solar system, shares part of the proceeds with a Harlem-based non-profit Uptown Grand Central.
Dee Williams' #SupportBlackArtists print shop is a win-win with its wide mix of powerfully bold and casual portraits.
Anna Rotty: Magical prints with hope for a magical year. All prints are editions of 10 at 8"x10" and 8"x12."
Luupe photographer Amanda Lopez' Guadalupe Zine, inspired by and dedicated to Mexico's Patron Saint, Our Lady of Guadalupe.
Jass Durhal’s always-updating print shop is stocked with gems like her best-seller (and one of our all-time favorites) “Gangsta Grandma.” Like Amanda Lopez, she's also a Luupe photographer.
Brooke Fitts: we enjoy Seattle-based Fitts' subdued landscape and wildlife photography. All prints are $65. Our favorite is this whispy-haired Icelandic horse portrait.
Ashima Yadava: Black Lives Matter zine sale. You might recognize Yadava’s images from our #PhotographersVote feature earlier this fall. Yadava writes “To help raise funds for racial justice, I am selling this limited edition photo zine. It is a 40-page photographic representation spelling Black Lives Matter in American Sign Language.” Yadava is asking for a donation of $25 or more. To get a copy, donate directly to a non-profit working to fight racial inequality and share the receipt. Alternately, DM her on Instagram if you need help.
Through December, Frances Bukovsky is offering 20% off prints including recent self-portraiture representing symptoms of invisible chronic illness. All prints are signed and shipped in eco-friendly packaging.
Fifth Wheel Press: This independently run, “photobook press for artists of marginalized genders” is having a 20% off sale thru December 25th.
Kate Rentz is having a sale on select landscape prints "because 2020 has been so tough on us all and because we need to be reminded of the beauty that still surrounds us." It's on through the end of the year and guess what? If you buy a print at 11"x17," you get an additional print for 8x12 print for free! Prints start at $75.
Michelle Arcila is a Costa Rican/American photographer who divides her time between Brooklyn/Hudson Valley, Oslo, and Costa Rica. She has a BFA in Photography at the School of Visual Arts and is trying to make it all work while raising two very young daughters during a pandemic. Help her out by purchasing a print - like this one above: "I Stand Here, 2017."
The aim of Proof of Purpose is threefold. To uplift photographers and their work, give back to charities, and bring beauty to blank spaces in a period of uncertainty. Here's one of our favorite images by Luupe photographer Elizabeth Weinberg.
Toronto-based Angela Lewis's print sale includes wonderfully introspective landscapes like these. Lewis will donate a percentage of sales from certain prints to organizations like the Parkdale Community Food Bank. Go get one before they all sell out.
Relief Markt // Seeing Collective “In response to lost income within our freelance and artist community during stay-at-home orders, BKC & Seeing Collective launched Relief Markt... Relief Markt is an artist benefit print sale featuring the works of over 100 artists from across the world.” The three images above - some of our favorites - are by Lanna Apisukh.
Amanda Greene is selling these prints directly thru her Instagram. Individual prints are $45 but she'll work out a deal for multiples! DM her for details.
Smalltalk Collective's Strange Paradise: a zine for strange times. From the editors: "In March 2020 we weren’t sure what was ahead, but we knew we needed to work on something tangible—together. Over the spring and summer, we captured moments of isolation, uncertainty, curiosity, and wonder. After many Zoom calls, we’re very proud to present Strange Paradise."
