Photographer Clarissa Bonet Wins Prestigious Hasselblad Award

Earlier this week, Hasselblad selected Luupe Photographer Clarissa Bonet as the X You grand prize winner for her pivotal fusion of street, fashion, and fine art photography. Bonet has made a name for herself over the past decade with elaborately staged street photographs, breaking the genre’s traditions with fresh, unexpected and sometimes controversial energy.

“This image is part of a fashion editorial I shot for Chicago Magazine,” says Bonet, “that celebrates both the Bauhaus movement and architect Mies van der Rohe…After scouting the location at multiple times of the day, I knew exactly when a slim beam of light would open on the west side of the building, creating a bold, graphic band of light for our model to stand in.”

Bonet’s move into fashion feels like a natural, exciting step – we can’t wait to see where she takes it.

While Bonet won the award for the above photo, we’re including a few photos from the rest of the shoot below for some extra context. You can see the entire commissioned feature on Chicago Magazine’s website.

Congrats, Clarissa!
